Tom Clancy’s The Division is an open world game inspired by the dystopian crime thriller novels of the late Tom Clancy. Tom Clancy’s The Division Story
The setting of Tom Clancy’s The Division is that a smallpox epidemic has ravaged the United States and caused it to descend into lawlessness. The Strategic Homeland Division (the “Division” in the game’s name) has been given the task of stopping the spread of the epidemic before it can completely destroy New York. The virus is spread by handling infected bank notes, so when these bank notes entered circulation on Black Friday, the situation quickly got out of hand. The story of this video game is that of a battle between order and chaos as the Division battles people who want to take advantage of the crisis, from common thieves to corrupt public workers. You can use up to three weapons at a time, and increased experience in the game gives you access to a wider variety of weapons. You can hide behind objects to protect yourself from enemy fire. Tom Clancy’s The Division Red Storm Entertainment
One of the game development companies that worked to develop Tom Clancy’s The Division is Red Storm Entertainment. Red Storm Entertainment is a subsidiary of its parent company Ubisoft. The company was founded in 1996 by novelist Tom Clancy and his business partner Doug Littlejohns, formerly of the British Royal Navy. It became a breakout success in 1998 with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, which was a pioneering first person shooter game which depended on strategy at least as much as it depended on pure fire power. Another one of its most successful games was Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, which was released in 2001, shortly after Ubisoft purchased Red Storm Entertainment. The Red Storm Entertainment games all feature an emphasis on patience and careful planning, as befits games made by people with a tactical background, like Clancy and Littlejohns. The Division by Tom Clancy is only the second game to be released by Red Storm Entertainment since Clancy’s death in 2013.
Tom Clancy’s The Division Multiplayer
The game is set in an open world, so you can play against other players, and because of its third person perspective, you can see your own character as well as the other characters.
Tom Clancy’s The Division Game Mechanics
The actions in Tom Clancy’s The Division represents fights and fact-finding missions as members of the division attempt to keep order in New York City in the aftermath of a catastrophic smallpox outbreak. Tom Clancy’s The Division is an open world, multiplayer game, so there are always other players and events with which you can interact; you do not need to take turns with other players. You can increase your status in the game by collecting experience points. Randomness in the game takes the form of the actions of non-player characters, as well as the actions of player characters other than your own, which seem random to you. The game mechanics are quite complex, as is typical of games released in recent years, and this is part of what makes Tom Clancy’s The Division a fun and engaging game.
