Gears of War 2 – Plot
Gears of War 2 – Act 1: Tip of the Spear
The game unfolds with the Locust Queen giving an account of the happenings of the Locust War in the preceding fifteen years. She explains the causes of the Pendulum Wars, how the Locust population survived the Lightmass bomb and how, after the recent wars, Jacinto is the last safe spot for mankind.
The story then proceeds to Dom, Anya and Marcus where they have gathered at Jacinto Med, a hospital in Jacinto. Then Ben Carmine, the rookie in the Delta Squad. Then Locust forces are detected about to attack the hospital. Carmine stays behind, acting on the orders of Marcus while he and Dom meet up with Tai Kaliso, a comrade of Marcus who fought with him in the Pendulum Wars and was also a spiritual warrior. Killing all the Locust drones in the hospital, Marcus, Tai and Dom move through the hospital until the meet up with Ben. Then all four of them drive away the remaining Locust forces until they retreat completely. Meanwhile, Anya thinks she has a lead on Dom’s still-missing wife Maria; however, the lead was false and Dom gets deeply agitated, breaking a window in a car due to his frustratedness.
After the attempted Locust attack on the hospital, Chairman Richard Prescott of the COG rallies the Gears, informing them of how the Locust Horde miraculously survived the Lightmass Bomb, and were reunited with a force stronger than ever. He thinks this force can destroy all of humanity if left unchecked. Thus they are left with a last-resort option: to commit to an all-out attack on the Locusts in their stronghold, the Hollow. To execute this, huge trucks, called derricks are escorted by the Gears and use grindlifts to enter the Hollow through the Locust-inhabited town, Landown. When the Gears arrive at the Derricks, Delta get acquainted with Dizzy Wallin, a conscript who drives Rig 314 which is also called ‘Betty’. During their journey to Landown, Locust forces attempt to ambush the Derricks and destroy them, but do not succeed in doing so as the Gears put up a good defense. When the Derricks reach Landown, they head to the cemetery, and the Gears on the surface protect the Gears heading into the Hollow. But Locust forces ambush them once again and this time they are led by Skorge, who is the leader of the Kantus. Dizzy Wallin tries to stop him in order to protect the Gears going underground and Tai joins his, somehow escaping from the grindlift. Unable to escape, Marcus and Dom watch helplessly as Tai and Dizzy duel with Skorge.
Gears of War 2 – Act 2: Denizens
Once they are underground, Dom and Marcus meet Carmine once again and move through the Hollow together, battling Locust forces and supporting other Gear soldiers. Then, Delta finds out the force capable of destroying whole cities: The Ringworm. As they watch, it destroys the city of Iliama. The Gears head into the city to find survivors. But they are attacked by Locust Forces and are almost overwhelmed until Cole saves them.
Gears of War 2 – Gameplay
