Devil May Cry, written by Hideki Kamiya, is a PlayStation 2 game that combines edgy horror graphics with good old fashioned video game adventures. It requires you to best your enemies in bloody sword fights as well as to jump from one platform to another like you used to do when playing Super Mario Brothers on the NES when you were a kid. This game debuted in 2001 and has since given rise to several sequels. If you would like to see more in-depth information on this video game. Devil May Cry Story
The plot revolves around a man named Dante, who is on a quest to fight a demon king named Mundus and thereby to avenge the deaths of his mother and brother. Dante is eventually able to take on the form of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda and to defeat Mundus before escapes from Mallet Island just as the island is about to self-destruct.
Devil May Cry Characters
The main character is Dante, an expert sword fighter. Another major character in the story is Trish, who starts out as an enemy to Dante, but the two of them are friends by the end of the story. Mundus the demon king is the main antagonist, and Dante’s twin brother Vergil also serves as an adversary to Dante in the game.
Devil May Cry Gameplay
Sword fighting, hand to hand combat, and jumping from one platform to another are all elements of gameplay. Red orbs are the game’s currency. One thing that makes playing this classic video game special is that, when you complete each mission, you are given a rating on your combat technique. “Stylish” is the highest rating you can earn.
Devil May Cry Graphics
The graphics are inspired by the fantasy genre of literature and art. They give the game an eerie feel.
DmC: Devil May Cry
Released in 2013, DmC: Devil May Cry is a reboot of the original game. It features edgier and more modern graphics than the original game. The writer of DmC is Tameem Antoniades, not Hideki Kamiya, who wrote the original game in the series.
Devil May Cry 2
Devil May Cry 2 was the first sequel to the original game; it was released in 2003 for the PlayStation 2. It is noticeably less difficult than the original video game, but it was still very popular when it was released. In Devil May Cry 2, the main antagonist is Arius, rather than Mundus, as in the original game.
Devil May Cry and the Virgin Interactive Games
Virgin Interactive was a prolific publisher of video games from the 1980s until the early 2000s. Virgin Interactive ceased to operate in 2003, around the time that Devil May Cry 2 was released.
Devil May Cry Game Mechanics
One of the things that makes this game so much fun to play is its high level of challenge. It is one of only a few games to give players a rating on how well they fight, instead of just whether they survive the fight or defeat their enemies. The game also requires players to solve puzzles. Therefore, it requires players to develop their intellectual prowess as well as their hand-eye coordination. Another thing that makes the game fun is that, if you press only a few buttons, your moves will display on the screen as an elaborate, well animated fight sequence. This video game is a lot of fun, but it definitely isn’t mindless fun.
