Call of Duty Black Ops – Story
The story is set in the war times and starts way back in the sixties with the protagonist Alex Mason being tied up to a chair and interrogated by his captors who are not visible. The questions he is bombarded with are all to learn about the site of a numbers station. The story then unfolds as Mason takes a memory trip recalling events in an effort to reply to all their questions.
Call of Duty Black Ops – Characters
Mason and his colleagues Woods and Bowman are part of Operation 40 which involves assassinating Fidel Castro in the Bay of Pigs. When they think they have succeeded and Mason opts to stay and protect the plane of extraction from an approaching barrier it turns out that they have shot Castro’s double and then end up being captured by the original Castro. Mason then befriends a former soldier Viktor Reznov who is also now his inmate, who belonged to the Red Army after being put in the custody of General Nikita Dragovich. Reznov who would have had a chance to study his enemy reveals the identities of some people to Mason. These people will be the same ones involved in his torture, Nikita Dragovich, Lev Kravchenko, who is the right hand of Dragovich and scientist Friedrich Steiner who will be an ex-Nazi and decamped to the Soviet Union.
Reznov tells Mason that in the forties, he along with a man by name Dimitri Petrenko, were directed to remove the scientist, Steiner, from a Nazi camp based in the Arctic. They all are betrayed by Dragovich who tests Nova-6, which is a nerve agent, a creation by Steiner, on Petrenko and all the other soldiers in the ship. As luck would have it, Reznov escapes as there is an attack by British commandoes on the Soviets with an intention to acquire Nova-6.
In the ensuing attack and confusion Reznov destroys the Nova-6 and manages to escape. But The Soviets get Nova-6 back when Steiner creates it again with the help of Daniel Clarke, a British scientist.
Mason and Reznov together create a prisoner mutiny as a diversion to help them escape but only Mason manages to flee and Reznov ends up captured.
One month after that, the President, John. F. Kennedy arranges a meeting with Mason and sends him on a mission authorizing him to assassinate Dragovich. Here Mason fleetingly speculates aiming a side arm at Kennedy.
Then the story goes on to show how Mason was actually brainwashed by Dragovich to make him a sleeper cell agent, how he and Hudson meet Dragovich at the lower levels of a ship where Mason drowns him and then escape.
Footage prior to the assassination of Kennedy shows Mason plainly in the crowd, suggesting that Mason had actually carried out the assassination.
