Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a critically-acclaimed first person shooter game for the PS3, Xbox 360, OS X, Microsoft Windows, and the Nintendo Wii. A portable version was developed for the DS. Modern Warfare is the 4th game in the series, and it is the initial installment in the new franchise line-up. The game is notable for many reasons, but one reason is that it departs from the World War II theme of its predecessors in the franchise and is set in the present day instead. It is the only Call of Duty game to get a rating of Mature.
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Story
Taking place in a present-day setting, players are equipped with an arsenal of powerful and advanced firepower and transported into dangerous hotspots around the world to take on an extremist enemy group threatening people around the world.
As both a British S.A.S. soldier and a United States Marine fighting through a perilous journey full of scary surprises, players use advanced weaponry, cutting-edge technology, coordinated air and land-based attacks on a battlefield where coordination, communication, precision, and speed are crucial to winning.
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Characters
In single player mode, the player is in control of six characters.
Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish: The player takes on the role of a British S.A.S recruit Sergeant, John “Soap” MacTavish, for the majority of gameplay. MacTavish is the primary protagonist in the S.A.S. Missions. He returns for the sequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Captain John Price: Captain Price is a supporting character throughout the series. Price has a reputation for his incredible mustache and his near invincibility. He goes deep undercover at times.
Sergeant Paul Jackson: Sergeant Paul Jackson is a S.A.S officer. He is one of the two playable characters. He is a member of the Force Recon squad searching for Al-Asad at the start of the game.
The game has characters that you cannot play, but who are important to the story:
Gaz: Gaz is a member of Captain Price’s S.A.S team and a veteran who was in the Special Forces. He wears a hat at all times.
Lieutenant Vasquez: Vasquez is in control of the Marine squad who is ordered to take and capture Al-Asad in the Middle Eastern missions.
Staff Sergeant Griggs: Griggs is part of the U.S. Marine Force Recon. At the beginning of the game, he fights on Middle Eastern missions. Later on, he joins forces with the SAS to assassinate Zakhaev in Russia.
Sergeant Kamarov: Kamarov is a Russian Loyalist who helps Captain Price and his SAS units at several points throughout the game.
Nikolai: Nikolai is a Russian informant who works for the SAS. He returns in the sequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as a character integral to the story.
Captain MacMillan: Captain MacMillain is in the 22nd Regiment SAS Alpha Team, and he is Captain Price’s superior officer in Pripyat. He appears in the missions “One Shot One Kill” and “All Ghillied Up,” and speaks between some of the missions in Modern Warfare 3.
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Gameplay
You will be introduced to new and surprising gameplay at every turn as the single player campaign is unfolding. You might be dropping from a Black Hawk helicopter, storming into a war zone, carrying out an air strike, or hiding out as a sniper. The game play changes from moment to moment. Infinity Ward, the developer, went beyond the call of duty, pun intended, to deliver award-winning special effects, depth of field, rim-lighting, character self-shadowing, texture streaming, and physics-enabled effects.
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Multiplayer
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has deathmatch-based and team-based modes on several maps. Every mode has a goal that requires distinct strategies to successfully complete. A player’s success in multiplayer is tallied with points, called experience points, and they can be gained by killing competing players, successfully completing challenges, achieving goals, or by finishing a match or round. The player gets more experience points as they advance, unlocking new gameplay modes, along with weapons, perks, and challenges. That maximum level of points you can obtain is 55. So if you’re a hardcore Call of Duty fan. Then witness the success of this smash hitting classic for yourself.
